Who We Are
RESPOND is a Christ-centred national coalition equipping churches and Christian organisations to respond to disasters with excellence, unity, and coordination.
Formed in 2012 in Cape Town, RESPOND was established to increase the effectiveness of collaborative church responses to large-scale disaster incidents. What began as a metropolitan coalition has now expanded across South Africa and into neighbouring countries.
RESPOND is not a first responder organisation. We do not replace emergency services. Instead, we play a structured, supportive role alongside first responders — mobilising churches, coordinating resources, and strengthening community-based disaster response.
